LOW GHG VEHICLE TECHNOLOGIES RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, DEMONSTRATION, AND DEPLOYMENT

The Department of Energy (DOE) is accepting applications for projects that address vehicle electrification, technology integration, energy efficiency, GHG emission reduction, and improvement of fuel economy.

Some examples of eligible projects include:

  • Electrification of on-road and off-road vehicles at ports and airports and supporting infrastructure
  • Electrification of public and/or private transit and paratransit buses and supporting infrastructure
  • Electrification of ride hailing vehicles, taxis, car sharing and/or rental vehicles
  • Electrification of freight vehicles and infrastructure
  • Multimodal electrified transportation hubs

Selection Criteria
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Technological diversity
  • Diversity of applicant organization types
  • Level of industry involvement
  • Impact on employment and US manufacturing
  • Acceleration of technological advances in areas that the industry by itself is not likely to undertake due to technical or financial uncertainty
  • Geographic distribution (considering past awards and current applications)
  • Optimization of funding

Eligible Applicants
Applicants are strongly encouraged to form teams that include:

  • A Clean Cities coalition
  • Utilities and other electricity suppliers
  • Community-based groups
  • Local/regional governments
  • Charging station hosts
  • Auto, truck, and equipment dealerships
  • Public or private fleets
  • Charging equipment installers and manufacturers
