GreenPower Announces FlexPower System

line

Vancouver, Canada September 30, 2014 – GreenPower Motor Company Inc. (“GreenPower” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce its proprietary FlexPower System.

A significant challenge for the emerging electric bus market is that each route has varying requirements. A bus route on flat ground or at low speed requires less power than a route with steep hills or at higher speeds. Consequently a single motor setting may not work for every route.

GreenPower installs its proprietary FlexPower System in every bus it manufactures. This technology is standard in GreenPower’s EV350 and represents a significant advancement with EV technology.

The FlexPower System has three primary settings which enables GreenPower’s bus to tackle any bus route:

Economy: Each of the two motors produces 67 Kw for a total of 134 Kw or 181 horsepower. The torque is 160 N-m per motor for a total of 320 N-m with both motors. This setting is ideal where the EV350 is deployed on flat routes that don’t require a significant amount of torque or for transit agencies seeking to maximize the distance on a single charge.

Regular Duty: Each motor produces 120 Kw for a total of 240 Kw or 324 horsepower. The torque is 400 N-m per motor for a total of 800 N-m with both motors. This is the standard setting for the EV350 and is intended to cover a broad range of requirements

Enhanced Power: Each motor produces 150 Kw for a total of 300 Kw or 405 horsepower. The torque is 500 N-m per motor for a total of 1,000 N-m with both motors. This setting enables the EV350 to climb hills at a rate which is unparalleled by any other electric bus.

The FlexPower System allows the operators to select the appropriate setting for each bus depending on the requirements of that particular route. The FlexPower System provides three buses in one.

A kilowatt (Kw) is typically used to express the output power of engines and the power of electric motors. For the electric motors one kilowatt is approximately equal to 1.34 horsepower. A newton metre (N-m) is a unit of torque.
